An open workspace works until someone has to take a call. Then it becomes a problem for two people at once — the caller who cannot speak freely, and everyone else who can hear them.
Where They Are
Our call booths sit just beside the reception area, a few steps from the coworking rooms and suites.
Members use them without booking, on a first-come basis, which is deliberate: a booking system defeats the purpose when a call comes in unexpectedly.
What They Are For
Client calls that should not be overheard. Video interviews. A quick call with your accountant.
Conversations about pricing, personnel or performance that have no business carrying across a shared room.
For members in finance, advisory and counselling, this is not a convenience but a requirement.
Better Than Stepping Outside
The alternative most people default to is walking out of the building, which costs ten minutes each way, exposes you to traffic noise, and means taking a confidential call on a public pavement.
Members tell us the ability to take a call without leaving the floor is one of the amenities they use most and think about least.
For Hybrid and Remote Work
Video calls have become the default for client meetings, interviews and internal stand-ups.
A booth gives you a neutral background, a door, and business-grade internet behind it, which is a considerable improvement on a laptop balanced at a shared desk.
When a Booth Is Not Enough
For anything scheduled, longer than about twenty minutes, or involving more than one person at your end, book a meeting room instead. Booths are designed for the unplanned call, not the planned meeting.
Call Booths: Common Questions
Do I need to book one?
No. Booths are used on a first-come basis, which is deliberate — a booking system defeats the purpose when a call arrives unexpectedly.
Are they free for members?
Yes. They are included for members on both desk and suite memberships, at no extra charge.
Can I take video calls in a booth?
There is no formal limit, but they are shared, so the courtesy is to keep it to a call rather than an afternoon. Anything scheduled or longer than about twenty minutes is better booked as a room.
Where are the booths located?
Just beside the reception area, a few steps from the coworking rooms and the suites.
What if every booth is in use?
Meeting rooms are bookable by the hour, and members occasionally book a room for a call that cannot wait. Reception will tell you what is free.
Can my visitors use a call booth?
Guests visiting a member are welcome to use one if it is free, though members have priority.
Do private suite members need call booths?
Frequently, yes. A suite is private from the rest of the floor but not from your own colleagues, so booths get used for conversations that should not carry inside your own room either.
Can I take a group call in a booth?
Booths are sized for one person. For two or more at your end, book a meeting room instead.
